Girls Leuven It Up is an informal community group based in Leuven, Belgium, organised by Ariane Takyi.

We use the Meta Pixel, provided by Meta, to measure and improve advertising relating to GLIU on Facebook and Instagram.

Meta Pixel may be used to:

record visits to gliu.club;
measure whether someone visited the website after seeing or selecting an advertisement;
measure newsletter sign-ups and other selected website actions;
understand the effectiveness of GLIU advertising;
create advertising audiences;
show GLIU advertising to people who previously visited or interacted with the website;
help Meta deliver and measure more relevant advertisements.

Depending on the page or feature used, Meta Pixel may record events such as a page view, search, newsletter sign-up or registration. Squarespace’s Meta Pixel integration can report events such as Lead when someone signs up through a newsletter block or promotional pop-up.

Meta Pixel and other marketing technologies are only activated after you consent to marketing cookies.

Refusing marketing cookies will not prevent you from accessing the main website, viewing events or following an external event-registration link.

Preference and functional technologies

The exact cookie name will include the identifier connected to our Google Analytics account.

Our website is hosted by Squarespace.

Squarespace provides website hosting, security, analytics, forms, cookie controls and other website functions. Squarespace may process technical and website-usage information to provide these services.

Meta Pixel

We use Meta Pixel, provided by Meta, for advertising measurement, conversion tracking and audience creation.

When you accept marketing cookies, information about your browser, device and selected interactions with gliu.club may be shared with Meta.

Meta may process this information in accordance with its own policies and may combine it with other information available to Meta, including information associated with Facebook or Instagram accounts.

Selecting an ordinary external link takes you away from gliu.club. The external website may then place its own cookies and process information under its own privacy and cookie policies.

GLIU does not control cookies placed after you leave gliu.club.

Embedded content

The website may contain embedded videos, maps, event calendars, social-media posts or other external content.

Embedded content can allow the external provider to receive information about your device or website visit and may result in cookies being placed.

Where embedded content uses non-essential cookies, we will take reasonable steps to prevent it from loading until the required consent has been obtained.

5. How we obtain cookie consent

When you first visit gliu.club, you will be shown a cookie banner.

Essential cookies will remain active because they are required for the website to function.

Analytics, marketing and other non-essential cookies will remain restricted unless you actively consent to the relevant category.

Continuing to browse, closing the banner or accepting general website terms will not be treated as consent.

Under Belgian guidance, consent for non-essential cookies must be prior, freely given, specific, informed, active, unambiguous and capable of being withdrawn.

Refusing optional cookies will not prevent you from accessing the main GLIU website.
